Birding in Englewood Florida

Everyone who visits Florida immediately notices the birds. There is a collection of beautiful and unique bird species like nowhere else in the world. They come in all shapes and sizes and wander in and out of daily life here like they own the place.

Many people find birding a very entertaining hobby and there's no place better than in Coastal Florida. Some birding fans need to get as many species on camera as possible. Others just enjoy witnessing different species interacting with their environments. They all enjoy the peace, quiet & serenity that birding in Florida provides.

We have a Florida Birding Trail right here on Manasota Key! Blind Pass Beach Park is a great spot for privacy when birding. Check out a lagoon and watch for shorebirds.

Indian Mound Park is a tiny yet memorable spot full of history and lots of species of birds. It's located on the Bay only about 15 minutes south of Manasota Key.

Lemon Bay Park & Environmental Center is on Lemon Bay and has over 2 miles of trails to check out. Keep an eye out for both local and migratory bird species in this spot just off Manasota Key.

Caspersen Beach in Venice is a fun birding spot which doubles as a fantastic location to find fossilized shark teeth right on the beach. This park has both coastal and central Florida settings and is a half hour north of Manasota Key.

The Venice Area Audubon Rookery is a good location to spot lots of "snowbirds" who have migrated south for the winter. This spot is best during the nesting months of December - May and about a half hour north of Manasota Key.

Oscar Scherer State Park is about a half hour north and gives you a rare chance to see a rare Florida Scrub-Jay.

The famous Myakka River State Park will allow you to see more inland Florida bird species and alligators as well! It's about a 45 minutes northeast of Manasota Key.

Celery Fields, about an hour north near I-75 & Fruitville in Sarasota has over 220 different species seen and is one of the best birding hot spots in all of Florida.
